How GPUs are changing our need for energy

As AI and video become more pervasive, the demand for efficient, cost effective computing is increasing more than ever. Starting with our smallest GPU, the NVIDIA L4, we deliver up to 120x better AI video performance, resulting in up to 99 percent better energy efficiency and lower total cost of ownership compared to traditional CPU-based infrastructure.

This leads to strongly reduced need for rack space and a significantly lower carbon footprint. The energy saved by switching from CPUs to NVIDIA L4s in
a 2 megawatt (MW) datacenter can power nearly 2.000 homes for one year or match the carbon offset from 172.000 trees grown over 10 years.

Our sustainability work includes enhancing energy efficiency, transitioning to renewable energy, reducing embodied carbon, using water responsibly, driving a circular economy, and enabling sustainability for customers.

Increasing Efficiency

We focus on efficiency across all aspects of our infrastructure, from the use of our GPUs and CPUs, to the design of our datacenters, to modeling the performance of our operations. By continuously improving our efficiency, we can reduce the amount of energy needed to operate our datacenters and cloud services.

Scale allows us to achieve higher resource utilization and energy efficiency than the typical on-premises datacenter. Moving on-premises workloads to Nebul Cloud can lower your workload carbon footprints by nearly 80% and up to 96% once we are powered with 100% renewable energy.

Predicting Performance

We and our partners use advanced modeling methods to optimize datacenter designs. This allows us to understand how our datacenters will perform before it is deployed, enabling us to optimize for higher reliability and energy efficiency in our systems. Once our datacenters are operational, real-time monitoring tracks real-time performance against how they should be operating, to further improve and optimize our designs and outcomes.

Renewable Energy

We’re on a path to powering our operations with 100% renewable energy by 2026, as part of our commitment to reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. In 2023, 70% of the electricity consumed by Nebul was attributable to renewable energy sources.
